  • 1940's Brooks Costume Couture Beaded Black Velvet Strapless Corset Bustle Gown

A truly breathtaking and one-of-a-kind couture creation by Brooks Costume Company. The Brooks Costume Company was the foremost maker of theatrical costumes in New York in the early part of the twentieth century and this dramatic gown is a testament to that reputation. This seductive showstopper is a beautifully made in luxurious black silk-velvet. The fabrication is truly gorgeous; sparkling rhinestones and glass-beads hand crafted into large-scale bows. This must have taken days to complete. I love the fully-boned corset strapless plunge bodice that flows into a complex hourglass bustle design. The inside construction is just as magical as the outside. The feather-trimmed ivory satin backside is so fresh and strikingly modern. A garment like this is a true piece of American theatrical costume history. The pictures say it all.

    Measurements
    Bust: 34-35 inches
    Waist: 25 inches
    Hips: Free Sweep
    Bodice Length: 10 inches
    Shortest Skirt Length: 28 inches
    Longest Skirt Length: 42 inches

This Brooks Costume Company custom couture gown is in excellent condition with no serious damage to note. Perfectly working hand-set back metal hook closures and full inner corset-boning. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
