An absolutely stunning and incredibly rare metallic wood-patterned ivory crepe lamé bias-cut trained gown dating back to the 1930's 'Old Hollywood' era of glamour. So Jean Harlow! The fabric itself is a masterpiece! I've never seen a shimmering wood-patterned lamé before and it reads so ethereal against the ivory background. The sleeveless low plunge bodice has the most magnificent brushed silver leather three-dimensional deco appliqué surrounded by a ring of intricate couture stitching. This type of hand-done work is incredibly labor intensive and must have taken weeks to complete. When you turn it's a seductive period perfect backless design. Definitely looks like the style of gown that inspired John Galliano while he was working at Christian Dior.  This figure flattering gown gathers in at the waist while skimming the hips in a magnificent trained bias-cut construction. The complex pattern work of the skirting creates an extra long, lean look. We added many detail pictures so you can appreciate this masterful achievement. This museum worthy rare 1930's custom couture bias-cut gown is in lovely condition with no serious damage, discoloration or alternations. Presents so beautifully. Slips on with no additional closures. After close inspection we found one minor half inch spot by the side ankle which is not noticeable when worn. Please message for detailed pictures.
