A truly magnificent and highly coveted Jacques Griffe haute couture champagne liquid silk satin hourglass bustier gown dating back to the early 1950's. From 1936 to 1939 Jacques Griffe worked with Madeleine Vionnet as a cutter, before launching his own couture house in 1942. Griffe is particularly known for his mastery of draping, which he developed while at Vionnet, and for his strong technical skills. This important French archival gown is fashioned from luxurious mid-weight champagne colored silk satin that has complex stitched relief work around the bodice which is lightly padded within to create sensational depth. The strapless nipped waist bustier bodice has fully boned corsetry with a sculpted sweetheart neckline. I love how the skirting drapes in front to create such a flattering hourglass shape. The craftsmanship is simply amazing; the concept reads so modern and timeless. A gorgeous one-of-a-kind custom French haute couture gown that would definitely make an unforgettable bridal or red carpet look.
