An absolutely breathtaking and ultra rare La Mendola Italian couture vibrant yellow pleated silk jersey beaded glamour gown dating back to their 1968 spring/summer collection. Though their work has only recently begun to be appreciated, Mike La Mendola and Jack Savage were familiar faces among fashionable high-society back in the 1960's and 70's. They had a celebrity clientele that included Elizabeth Taylor and Rita Hayworth. This gown comes to us from the daughter of the original owner who had the epic piece custom made during a very special trip to Italy. This is such an iconic example of La Mendola's work and has all the details you desire when looking for a high glamour gown during this era. The bodice has complex beading and sequins in an iridescent golden orange hue with hints of prong-set rhinestones for extra sparkle. I love the ultra wide collar low-cut plunge bodice which totally channels that femme fatale vibe. The heavily pleated sculpted skirting shows off a women's seductive shape while skimming the hips in such a flattering way.
