A highly coveted and ultra chic Dolce & Gabbana multi-colored patchwork hourglass flounce gown dating back to their epic 1993 spring/summer collection. As pictured, this striking look was also featured on Naomi Campbell for El Pais magazine. Dolce & Gabbana are considered the inventors of a Mediterranean style that draws its inspiration from women of Italian realism, sensual and austere like Anna Magnani, to whom they dedicated a collection whose key element was the 1940's slip. They are not looking for a retro look; Dolce & Gabbana turned to the past for innovation. 
For this 1993 spring/summer collection they stated, "The outfits have a 1970's feeling but they have been updated for the modern woman. Our wandering woman collects many things like souvenirs, trinkets, treasures which remain with her throughout her life. The patchwork reflects these different stages in her life." This well-documented unique archival gown is a wonderful example of their genius and of the 1990's dark romance bohemian hippie aesthetic so popular at the time.
