  • 2015 Ralph & Russo Haute Couture Runway 'Blooming' Ombré Blue Silk Sculptural Dress

    ID: 0407261
    Size: extra small - small
    Condition: excellent

This breathtaking Ralph & Russo ombré blue sculptural 'blooming' skirt cocktail dress is from their 2015 spring/summer haute couture collection. Founded in 2010 by Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo, the house quickly became known for its refined couture techniques and red carpet dominance, dressing some of the most visible women in the world. In a historic milestone, it became the first British-based label in over a century to show on the official Paris Haute Couture Week, cementing their place in modern couture fashion. Titled “The Awakening of Flora” this collection drew inspiration from the renewal of spring, merging 1950s Old Hollywood glamour with intricate, nature-driven designs. Look 15 on the runway, this magnificent dress captures that vision—where structure meets movement, and classic couture codes are reinterpreted through a botanical lens. The bodice is cut from a softly luminous silk faille in the prettiest cornflower blue, tailored to contour the torso with clean, uninterrupted lines. A wide, gently angled neckline frames the collarbone and extends into slender straps. At the waist, a narrow belt defines the silhouette, creating a sharp transition into the dramatic volume below. The design opens into its most captivating element: The skirt resembles a blooming flower mid-unfurl, composed of tiered layers of silk organza that ripple outward before tapering inward again. The skirt uses close to 100 layers of organza, taking up about 40 yards of fabric. Each layer is individually cut and placed to create depth. As the eye moves downward the color softens creating a mesmerizing ombré effect. Each layer is hand-painted in a slightly different tone to achieve this design. It's amazing how the tiers respond with subtle movement, creating a sense of life within the garment itself. The proportions recall the 1950s iconic silhouette—nipped at the waist, with controlled and deliberate fullness—yet clearly reimagined with an ultra chic modern touch.

Ralph & Russo’s impact on contemporary couture cannot be overstated. In a relatively short time, the house reintroduced a sense of glamour that resonated globally with clients such as Angelina Jolie, Beyoncé, and Eva Longoria. Pieces like this are increasingly sought after—not only for their craftsmanship but also for what they represent in the evolution of 21st-century couture. This dress makes an unmistakable and unforgettable statement.

This special Ralph & Russo haute couture dress is in beautiful condition with no rips, holes or alterations. The garment retailed for over $100,000. It closes with a hidden side zipper and original belt. The left strap subtly hooks at the shoulder, a nuanced couture detail that speaks to the house’s exacting construction. Only signs of age are a few very faint surface spots to the bodice. Please message for detailed pictures. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
