An absolutely breathtaking and incredibly rare Christian Dior black lace and ivory silk bias-cut trained gown dating back to John Galliano's beloved 2005 fall-winter collection. John Galliano is widely considered one of the most innovative and influential fashion designers of the early twenty-first century. He mingled his references in often surprising juxtapositions to create extravagant yet intricately engineered and meticulously tailored clothes. This dramatic dress is everything you look for in Galliano era Dior! From the ultra flattering silhouette to the luxurious fabrics used; this rare masterpiece totally channels that iconic 'Old Hollywood' vibe. The same lace illusion look was worn by actress and Galliano muse Eva Green for a gorgeous 2008 YOU magazine editorial. She loved the gown so much that she wore it again for the 2008 AmfAR Cannes gala red carpet. The fabric itself is a masterpiece; a midweight ivory silk layered with an impressive black floral motif chantilly lace. The bodice features an alluring slight off-shoulder wide necklace which flows into a chic half-sleeve with tie design. We can't ignore his statement side-covered buttons which is such a nod to 1930's fashion. The form fitting waist is met by chic sash-tie which adds wonderful depth and texture. Galliano then uses genius bias-cut skirting which skims the hips while creating a stunning hourglass shape. Just when you think this gown couldn't get any more glamorous, he adds an asymmetrical scalloped train which falls to the floor, and if decided to be carried creates such a picturesque red carpet moment. This archival Christian Dior gown really is a rare, impressive piece of fashion history that will have everyone talking.
