An ultra chic and highly coveted Christian Dior haute couture museum-quality ivory checkered silk pleated mini dress dating back to spring/summer 1968. This incredible work of wearable art was a custom made commission while Marc Bohan was creative director at Dior. As shown, we were thrilled to also find the original French documented editorial showcasing this gorgeous garment. The dress is fashioned in a luxurious mid-weight ivory silk with the most magnificent checkered pattern. The mock turtleneck bodice has long slight-billow sleeves with original pearl cufflinks. My favorite design element is the gold metal trimmed thin waist belt which is so figure flattering. The pleated mini skirt adds such beautiful texture and looks sensational with movement. This important piece of fashion history would make an unforgettable red carpet or bridal look.

This extraordinary 1968 Christian Dior by Marc Bohan numbered haute couture custom made dress is in beautiful condition with no rips, holes or alternations. The garment closes with original back French éclair metal zipper. The inside is immaculate and all hand-finished. Only sign of age are a few very faint marks which are not noticeable when worn. Please message for detailed pictures. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value. In 2009, the Dior Museum in Granville put on a show, 'Dior: The Bohan Years,' which featured looks from Bohan’s nearly 30-year career at Dior, including many he created for Princess Grace. In 2018, Assouline published a book by Jerome Hanover, 'Bohan’s Dior: 1961 to 1989.' where he explains, "you see Bohan everywhere. You see [his work] in Prada, Raf Simons, Hermès. I think it will help fashion to remember that Marc Bohan really designed the ’60s.”
