A totally magnificent and incredibly rare Thea Porter couture billow-sleeve gown dating back to 1974. This magical dress is fashioned in a luxurious metallic gold-leave threaded green silk. The fabric has a touch of transparency to it and the effect is absolutely stunning. Just look at the gorgeous vibrant color! The low-cut scoop neck bodice is trimmed with incredible covered buttons and beautifully sculpted puff-shoulders. The billow-sleeves are cut wide and full with the wrists having an elastic band for perfect fit. I love the intricately pleated full-length skirt which looks sensational with movement. We were thrilled to find a picture of actress Susan Hampshire in an almost identically shaped Thea Porter from the same year. Thea Porter was largely inspired by fashion from the Victorian and Renaissance eras and is easily identifiable by her decorated and layered fabric. During the 1970's, her clothing attracted many celebrity customers like Sharon Tate, Elizabeth Taylor, Barbara Streisand, and Pink Floyd, who enjoyed wearing her erotic yet comfortable creations. The secret to her glamorous garments was to conceal rather than reveal. A coveted piece of wearable fashion history.
