  • 1985 Geoffrey Beene Documented Black & Gold Fully-Sequin 'Cindy Crawford' Gown

    ID: 0225253
    Size: small
    Condition: excellent

An ultra chic and well documented, archival Geoffrey Beene couture black and gold fully-sequin silk gown from his iconic 1985 fall-winter collection. Geoffrey Beene made a lasting impression on the fashion industry with his body-contoured dresses that were marvels of cut and proportion. What makes this gown even more special is a young Cindy Crawford modeled the dress for an important editorial and it's one of the earliest known campaigns she works on. We were thrilled to also find an image of actress-model Iman wearing the gown as well!

As the FIT Museum explains, "with this gown, Geoffrey Beene explores strategies of concealing and revealing the body through the use of gold and black sequins, and by manipulating color and geometric form, he emphasizes the contrast between waist and hips. Known for infusing wry humor into his designs, Beene subtly suggests the notion of a sarong coming undone - a scene once he observed when a gust of wind caused a woman to grab at her unraveling cover-up. Remaining true to his sense of propriety, Beene employs sequins to hint at the notion of bare flesh while keeping the body concealed, thus preserving the dress' overall modesty."

This luxurious gown is also a strikingly gorgeous statement. The figure flattering nipped waist silhouette accentuates the bust while skimming the hips in such an elegant way. This epic Geoffrey Beene is the chicest dress for a gala, wedding or red carpet event where you want to turn heads and make a lasting impression.

    Measurements
    Bust: 33-34 inches
    Waist: 26 inches

This Geoffrey Beene designer gown is in beautiful condition with no stains, rips or holes. Garment is lined in black silk and closes with back hidden zipper. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
