A truly timeless Oleg Cassini couture embroidered cutwork silk hourglass dress dating back to the mid 1950's. Cassini was best known as the “Couturier to Camelot" since he created 300 total looks for Jackie Kennedy which had a profound impact on the way American women dressed. Oleg Cassini was a French-born American fashion designer who dressed numerous stars, creating some memorable moments in celebrity culture. With his designs for Grace Kelly, he really garnered admiration and even awe, for American fashion design. As shown, his exaggerated portrait-collar was a favorite of Grace Kelly! This stunning "little black dress" is a wonderful example of his genius. The fabric itself is a masterpiece; high quality black embroidered eyelet cutwork silk taffeta. The short sleeve bodice has a gorgeous ivory tiered organza portrait collar plunge and chic ruched cummerbund. The nipped-waist wiggle skirt silhouette is so flattering and truly shows why he remains influential and predominant today. Only sign of age is some faint age yellowing to the organza collar. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
