An absolutely magnificent and incredibly rare Yves Saint Laurent haute couture documented gown from his iconic 1989-90 fall/winter runway collection. It is insanely chic with its fluid hand-draped construction. The fabric is a luxurious duel layer shocking magenta silk charmeuse which feels heavenly against the skin. I adore the slightly gathered off-shoulder bodice with long zipper-wrist sleeves. He then uses an ingenious asymmetric draping technique that gives the gown so much depth and texture. The flattering nipped waist with wrap-style skirting emphasizes a woman's seductive shape without adding any bulk or volume to the actual hips. Yves Saint Laurent's influence is with us still and his place in the pantheon of creativity is unlikely to change until fashion itself does. A stunning slice of documented fashion history.
