An iconic Thierry Mugler documented 1999 fall-winter sapphire blue silk corset strapless gown with original $6500 price tag attached. This legendary French fashion designer is known for bold fashion and edgy, sometimes even campy, theatricality. Though Mugler stopped designing his couture and ready-to-wear lines in 2003 to focus on photography and costume design, his work has a lasting legacy. This seductive sapphire blue dress is a perfect example of his genius. Not only is this number unforgettable; it is true wearable art. I love the skilled asymmetric gathered corset strapless bodice. The nipped waist seamlessly flows into a figure flattering full-length cascading skirt. We were thrilled to find the Getty Image of Mugler with one of his models wearing the identity dress in peach. The hourglass cut really has that nod to Old Hollywood glamour days that you see in his best pieces.
Measurements-marked a size 36
Bust: 32-33 inches
Waist: 24 inches
Hips: 36 inches
This 1999 Thierry Mugler designer gown still has her original price tags attached. Closes with hidden back zipper, complex snap and corset style bodice. The level of work in this piece would only be found in the highest couture of today. After close inspection, we found some faint surface discolor that mostly gets hidden in the folds and two pin holes to the silk which are not noticeable when worn. Please message for detailed pictures. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value. A truly breathtaking Thierry Mugler gown.
