Absolutely gorgeous and instantly recognizable 2004 fall/winter Gucci by Tom Ford documented runway look #27 worn by Liya Kebede . This iconic purple show-stopper is one of the most coveted dresses from his last collection with Gucci. Vogue stated, "The emotional ending of the Tom Ford era at Gucci was a look back in glamour—a fabulous farewell in which this perfection-obsessed superstar of fashion seized the moment to run his eye over everything he has achieved for the brand, and then do it better. There is no doubt who the Gucci woman is: the embodiment of sexual confidence, burnished to a high gloss and bursting with predatory power. A symbolic figure of the past decade's hedonistic highs, she spike-heeled her way down a runway carpeted with pink fur, luxuriating in Ford's aesthetic one last time."
This beautiful dress fashioned in the highest quality purple silk, is a wonderful example of Tom Ford's genius. The bodice has an alluring low-cut peak plunge with wide halter style neckline and magnificent bell sleeves that extend past the wrist for more drama. The fabric has the most amazing spiral pleat work throughout for unique depth and texture. The seductive front panels of sheer chiffon further the textural beauty. My favorite design element is the cut-out bondage style backside which is so well done. The nipped-waist flows into a fitted V that is edged in silk. The pleats extend from the waistline of the skirt outward, horizontally at first and then vertically, creating a stunning hourglass ruched silhouette. This runway dress would make an epic wedding guest, cocktail party or red carpet look!
