Incredibly chic Geoffrey Beene Couture black and creme checkered wool coat dating back to the mid 1960's. Geoffrey Beene made strong impressions with his courteous manner as well as his highly original style. He was a champion of minimalist design. His body-contoured clothes were marvels of cut and proportion. Beene’s view of style was more about function than fad. His clothes were structured but never rigid and rely on the craftsmanship of careful detail. This timeless winter coat is a beautiful example of his genius. Gorgeous double-breasted bodice with over-sized round and notched lapels. I love the lean, long sleeves with dramatic wide cuffs. This figure flattering garment skims the hip with a classic a-line silhouette. This is the type of garment you will reach for over and over. A real treasure and one of the best constructed coats I have seen.
