We are pleased to offer this important and incredibly rare Christian Dior documented coat from the "Trapeze" collection of 1958. The House of Dior has been an enduring icon of Haute-Couture. While the House of Dior is still a thriving business today, Dior's untimely death in 1957 left the fashion world without a great dictator of style. Christian Dior designed under his own name for only a decade, but his influence is everlasting. When the talented Yves Saint Laurent took over as head designer, he continued the Dior tradition of elegant design and this beautiful garment is a wonderful example. The coat is fashioned in a stunning periwinkle, fully-lined, heavy weight wool fabric. It is easy to see the level of quality in this piece; workmanship is immaculate and all hand-finished. The bodice has chic neck-tie and sculpted puff sleeves. I adore the dramatic over-sized pockets and figure flattering silhouette. It is an exquisite look into past couture from one of the most important houses of our modern era and the fact that it is so well documented only adds to its allure.
