A totally enchanting and incredibly rare Christian Dior ivory floral silk asymmetric bias-cut gown dating back to John Galliano's 1998 resort collection. We were thrilled to find a picture of the dress gliding down the runway. John Galliano is widely considered one of the most innovative and influential fashion designers of the early twenty-first century. He mingled his references in surprising juxtapositions to create extravagant yet intricately engineered and meticulously tailored clothes. I love the layers of lightweight silk adorned with flowers and subtle geometric detailing that naturally draws the eye up and down the body. Galliano’s cherished 1930's style covered side buttons are wrapped in metallic thread and bookended by gorgeous beaded metallic tassels. The single-shoulder design adds a romantic sensitivity while the elongated tassel playfully dances in the light. The masterful bias-cut accentuates the waist in an entirely natural way; hugging curves without giving the impression of even trying. This is that unforgettable, important archival piece that would make an epic bridal or red carpet look. A rare wearable piece of fashion history.
