A simply stunning and seldom found magenta pink heavily beaded silk-velvet dance dress dating back to the mid-1920's. Vibrant colored flapper dresses from this decade are perennial favorites and this one is a show-stopper. The garment's simple unstructured style is so modern while the fine couture work is a treasure trove of needle art. The dress is fashioned from luxurious mid-weight magenta silk-velvet and there are sparkling glass beads and prong-set rhinestones placed in a gorgeous art-deco motif through the entire skirt. This is all done by hand and must have taken weeks to complete. The 'robe de style' full skirting has such lovely movement. I love the additional rhinestone bodice trimming and of course that amazing backside birdcage cut-out. What a magnificent dress for a stylish woman who uses her clothing as the material from which to create a work of art.
