  • 1930's Milgrim Couture Black Silk Rhinestone Deco-Bows Asymmetric Trained Gown

    ID: 0928243
    Size: small
    Condition: very good

This incredibly chic and ultra rare Silly Milgrim couture black silk draped asymmetric one-shoulder trained gown dates back to the mid 1930's. Sally Milgrim, a successful and influential businesswoman who preceded her American and European counterparts in remarkable ways, introduced individuality, comfort, practicality, and versatility through her designs. Milgrim was among the first to feature celebrities in modern advertising. She also famously designed inaugural gowns for Eleanor Roosevelt, Florence Harding and Grace Coolidge. The Milgrim label is now held in The Smithsonian, The Metropolitan Museum and many other archive collections.
This sensational showstopper is beautifully constructed with the finest mid-weight black silk. The construction is truly gorgeous; a stunning one-shoulder asymmetric bodice that flows into a draped back train. I absolutely adore the duel over-sized rhinestone bow deco appliqués. One is on the top shoulder and the other on the wide sash belt. The train looks fantastic over the shoulder or playfully in hand. Our glamorous Old Hollywood style gown truly embodies the spirit of this special era in fashion. The pictures say it all.
    Measurements
    Bust: 32-35 inches
    Waist: 24-26 inches
Hips: Best up to 38 inches
    Total Length: 62 inches

This incredible 1930's Milgrim couture made gown is in lovely condition with no serious damage or alternations. Slips on with side metal hook closures. After close inspection we found some minor abrasions to the lower portion of the skirt and very slight fade by the top shoulder. Please message for detailed pictures. Presents so beautifully. A rare slice of 1930's fashion history.
