  • 1990 Bob Mackie for Cher Signed Studded Fuchsia Suede Motorcycle Jacket & Boots

    ID: 0105253
    Size: small
    Condition: excellent

An important, one-of-a-kind Bob Mackie couture fuchsia pink suede motorcycle jacket with matching over-the-knee boots custom made for his dear friend, Cher. We were thrilled to find an image of Cher in her closet holding this exact jacket in hand. The fact that Cher herself signed and dated the jacket to 1990 makes it extra special. The workmanship is impeccable and has intricate couture details that one rarely sees today. The vibrant, fully lined fuchsia leather suede has the most impressive sparkling prong-set rhinestones throughout. The same embellishments are also on the amazing over-the-knee boots which Bob Mackie signed! I especially love all the silver zippers and snaps which really embody that rock and roll vibe. Custom couture Bob Mackie pieces are rare, as they were not mass produced and were incredibly expensive to make. Bob Mackie has dressed many legends- Madonna, Tina Turner, Marilyn Monroe, Diana Ross, Judy Garland and Carol Burnett among them. There’s one special relationship that withstood the test of time- Cher. When Mackie met Cher in 1967 on The Carol Burnett Show, for which he designed the costumes, the two became instant best friends. Mackie is the mastermind behind some of Cher’s greatest looks. About her remarkable ability to wear his designs, Mackie once remarked: "There hasn't been a woman in the limelight since Garbo or Dietrich who could pull off such outrageous visual fantasies while maintaining her individual beauty". This is such a museum worthy piece of fashion and celebrity history that will instantly become a favorite in your collection. It is an exquisite example of wearable luxury from one of the most legendary American designers made for a true icon.
