  • 1998 John Galliano 'Haut Bohème' Collection Ivory Fitted Textural Jacket & Bias-Cut Maxi Skirt Set

    ID: 0217263
    Size: small
    Condition: excellent

This highly coveted and totally breathtaking John Galliano ivory textured cotton fitted jacket with matching bias-cut maxi skirt dates back to his epic 1998 spring/summer 'Haut Bohème' collection. John Galliano built his name on theatrical storytelling and masterful cut, quickly becoming one of fashion’s most daring visionaries. By the late 1990s, he had redefined the runway as spectacle, blending historical reference with modern sensuality and reshaping the industry’s appetite for drama. His spring/summer 1998 collection, titled Haut Bohème, was presented at Paris Fashion Week at the Château de Vincennes, where models pranced through an ornate setting complete with a grand bed that seated part of the audience. It was a scene both decadent and mischievous, underscoring Galliano’s love of fantasy.

This stunning ensemble walked through the castle as Look 6. The ivory rayon crepe skirt is cut on the bias, allowing it to glide over the body in such a figure flattering way. It skims the hips before softly flaring at the hem, creating movement with every step. Along the side seam, Galliano’s signature covered buttons trail with intention. Yet the true focal point is undoubtedly the alluring jacket. Tailored to contour the waist, it channels a refined 1940s sensibility with its structured shoulders and sculpted silhouette. Lined in ultra-soft silk, the textured cotton wool fabrication lends depth without weight. Wide lapels frame the neckline in a confident sweep and a plunging cut. The three front buttons are miniature works of art—translucent discs encasing delicate pressed flowers, each bordered in metal, offering a romantic counterpoint to the jacket’s disciplined tailoring.

John Galliano pieces from this era are exceptionally scarce, particularly examples preserved in such pristine condition. This archival set transcends occasion—you could wear it as a modern bridal look, command attention on a red carpet, or style the jacket with denim for an elevated daytime statement. However you choose, you have a moment of fashion history that continues to resonate nearly three decades later.
