  • 2001 Christian Dior by John Galliano Black Silk Leather-Strap Bondage Bias-Cut Gown

    ID: 0112262
    Size: extra small
    Condition: excellent

This sleek and ultra seductive Christian Dior black silk leather strap bias-cut gown dates back to John Galliano’s epic 2001 spring/summer collection. Appointed creative director of the House of Christian Dior in 1996, Galliano redefined Dior at the turn of the millennium, injecting historic couture codes with theatrical storytelling, subversive edge, and a bold modern sensuality that reshaped the brand’s global identity.

For his 2001 spring/summer Dior collection, Galliano explored themes of deconstruction and reconstruction. Although this was not a runway piece, this dress captures the collection’s punk-infused attitude through its use of leather straps—an element echoed across several other looks. Cut on the bias, the liquid silk drapes fluidly over the body, sculpting a streamlined silhouette that feels both liquid and commanding. The bodice is anchored by an interior boned corset, providing structure and lift while maintaining an elegant line. A daring high slit reveals the leg with confident allure, while Galliano’s signature covered buttons trace the side torso. The defining feature lies in the black leather bondage straps, each finished with antiqued gold buckles. One strap crosses diagonally across the front and back, framing the décolletage with architectural precision, while the other wraps sensually around the upper arm. These elements transform the gown into something unmistakably Galliano—where tailoring, attitude, and eroticism meet. Galliano-era Dior dresses have become increasingly coveted as fashionistas and collectors alike recognize this period as one of the house’s most influential chapters. You will win best dressed at any black-tie gala, red carpet, or intimate evening event where understated drama leaves the strongest impression.
