  • 2001 Giorgio Armani 'Kate Moss for Vogue' Magazine Cover Fully-Beaded Ruby Red Silk Tulle Finale Gown

    ID: 1213253
    Size: small / medium
    Condition: excellent

This incredibly gorgeous Giorgio Armani fully beaded ruby red tulle gown, dating back to his 2001 fall-winter collection, stands as one of the most iconic and relevant pieces he has ever created. Revered for his masterful tailoring, refined sensuality, and ultramodern minimalism, Armani revolutionized how women dress by softening the rigid lines of the 1980s and ushering in a new language of elegance. This epic 2001 fall-winter collection was Armani at his most poetic, with evening wear conceived as an homage to Picasso’s blue period. Yet this magnificent finale gown was the singular exception: the only red look in the entire collection. Documented as runway Look 76, the dress was modeled by Veronika Pospisilova and styled with a coordinating fully beaded ruby shawl. Its significance only grew when it became a centerpiece of Armani’s advertising campaign, modeled by Natalia Semanova and photographed by Peter Lindbergh. Most memorably of all, Kate Moss wore this design for the December 2001 cover of Vogue UK, shot by Nick Knight; a cover so stunning that the Professional Publishers Association later shortlisted it as one of the greatest magazine covers of the century.

This ultra rare gown is constructed in a long, fluid princess silhouette and made from four exquisite layers. Two inner layers of semi-sheer silk chiffon are overlaid with a double layer of ruby red tulle that is painstakingly embroidered with a net-like constellation of beads, sequins, and crystals in multiple shapes and shades of red. A final veil of sheer tulle floats over the beaded structure, giving the gown an ethereal luminosity. The front bodice is clean, minimal, and delicately suspended by slender straps. The unexpected reveal comes at the back: a dramatic open design framed by a sculptural cut-out cage, anchored with a silk satin clasp. This architectural detail balances the gown’s softness with a precise modern edge. Made even more poignant following Armani’s passing only months ago, this gown represents an archival fashion investment piece due to its high-profile editorial history and runway pedigree. This museum-worthy and instantly recognizable gown stands as a testament to Armani’s legacy.
