Spectacular 1987 Pierre Cardin Haute-Couture documented coat in the prettiest magenta pink color! In 1951 Cardin opened his own couture house and by 1957, he started a ready-to-wear line; a bold move for a French couturier at the time. Cardin is known for his avant-garde style and his unique geometric shapes, often ignoring the female form. This iconic, one-of-a-kind piece is a perfect example of his genuine. The construction of this garment is amazing- giant circles of wool cleverly sewn together and inverted, create a sweeping trapeze shape. I love the single asymmetrical button closure and slightly ruffled collar. This is vintage fashion on the highest level with everything about the piece done to work with the rest. A beautiful work of wearable designer history.
