The first Versace boutique was opened in 1978 and its popularity was immediate. Today, Versace is one of the world's leading international fashion houses. Gianni Versace redefined fashion by combining it with rock 'n' roll, art and celebrity. By merging the worlds of fashion and entertainment, his shows became pop-culture events. This breathtaking and ultra seductive purple ombré silk gown, custom made for actress Melanie Griffith to wear at the 56th Primetime Emmy Awards, is a wonderful example of the brand's genius. She looked so fabulous that night and of course it didn't hurt having Antonio Banderas by her side! The fabric itself is a masterpiece; the highest quality semi-sheer ombré silk chiffon that seems to almost change colors with the light. The fabric is doubled layered and when you walk peaks of leg show. Truly magical! The alluring low-cut bodice has a built-in corset like bodysuit to keep that hourglass shape. The attached draped scarves look some effortless when you walk. This graceful yet provocative gown has a flattering low backside; a signature Versace touch. We added many pictures so you can appreciate this masterful achievement. A true museum quality couture creation by Atelier Versace that will become a favorite in your collection.
