A sensational and highly coveted Jourdelle of Hollywood documented flying phoenix firebirds rayon crepe gown dating back to 1946. The Smithsonian holds a similar example within their collection which is attributed to the famous costume designer Gilbert Adrian. This dress is really everything you look for in a 1940's showstopper. The craftsmanship is gorgeous; large scale firebird appliqués in vibrant shades of yellow and orange. Totally reminds me of modern Schiaparelli. The elegant bodice has a classic short cap-sleeve design with a narrowing hourglass waist. This figure flattering garment accentuates the bust while skimming the hips with it's unique draped skirting. The garment finishes with a perfect side slit. A beautiful slice of Old Hollywood history that reads so fresh and modern.

This Jourdelle of Hollywood designer dress is in wonderful condition with no rips, holes or alternations. Presents beautifully. After close inspection we found some faint watermarks to the appliqués which are hard to see when worn. Please message for detailed pictures. Perfectly working original side metal-zipper. A wearable investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
