Breathtaking Pierre Balmain Paris cocktail dress set dating back to his 1959 Spring/Summer collection. Pierre Balmain worked under Robert Pigiuet, Molyneux, and Lucian Lelong, where he worked closely with Christian Dior. In 1945 is finally opened his own couture house. Balmain created a very sculptural quality which was always allied with a ladylike essence. His garments have a body and a shape of their own. This gorgeous navy-blue and ivory ensemble is a wonderful example of his genius. The fabrics used are of the highest quality; navy floral patterned chantilly-lace and ivory silk-organza. The bodice is an elegant corset boned strapless with applique cut-work and fitted nipped waist. The matching bow trimmed 3/4-length sleeve wide scoopneck jacket is perfect for a more modest look. This figure flattering garment accentuates the bust, skims the hip and flairs out in such an elegant way. Balmain's glamorous garments were worn by the likes of Bridget Bardot, Katherine Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich and I can surely see why.
