An absolutely magnificent and ultra seductive custom couture peacock novelty dance dress dating back to the late 1970's. This incredibly special piece came from a collector who explained it was used in Dolly Parton's ABC Variety Show which had a short run from 1976-1977. The fabrication on this captivating showstopper is true couture quality; sparkling metallic embroidered and heavily beaded mid-weight silk in the most extraordinary purple gold peacock feather motif. Feather shaped appliqués also adorn the front bodice and hemline, creating such alluring depth and texture. Not only is this dress beyond beautiful, it has so many clever details. A front center metal zipper is worked into the feather motif and when it is unzipped, a built-in beaded bustier is revealed. Each side of the skirt also has concealed metal zippers and when you zip them up, pleated sheer silk is displayed. When you turn around there is a flirty gold beaded tassel on your behind reminding you to 'shake a tail feather'. We added many pictures so you can appreciate this masterpiece.
