An ultra-chic and hard to find Jacques H. Reval Parisian couturier navy blue silk-chiffon maxi dress dating back to the early 1970's. Though his work has only recently begun to be appreciated, during the 1960's and 1970's he operated a small popular atelier which had purchase orders from all over the world. From what I learned, he produced high-end evening wear for the jet-set culture who loved to add embellishment and unusual sequin work to their clothing. I think this beauty is one of the best examples of early 1970's dolly glamour I have seen in a long time. This dress has a fantastic white sequin stripe pattern throughout the bodice, which has lovely iridescent shimmer. I adore the fully-beaded bow trimmed collar and semi-sheer billow sleeves. The same sequin work continued on the wide cuffs. The belted nipped waist with heavily pleated skirting flatters a woman's seductive shape without adding any bulk or volume to the actual hips. A timeless couture look for any modern event.
