  • 1972 Emilio Pucci Grapevine Motif Sheer Silk Organza Billow-Sleeve Maxi Dress

    ID: 0818242
    Size: small
    Condition: excellent

An absolutely gorgeous and totally timeless Emilio Pucci couture psychedelic grapevine motif semi-sheer silk organza maxi dress dating back to spring-summer 1972. Emilio Pucci was the king of textile innovative and beautiful prints during this period. His designs revolutionized the world of fashion and he developed a fan following that was almost unheard of at the time. Today, original Pucci prints from this time period are hard-to-find and highly collectible. This stunning grapevine motif gown, in different shades of pale pink, brown, dove gray and black, is a perfect example of his genius. This special Pucci print is called Chianti. Emilio Pucci's daughter was recently interviewed for an article in WWD at her vineyards at Cantine di Cerreto in an article entitled
"From Fashion to Winemaking, the Italian Way" written by Luisa Zargani. She is quoted "I was a child, and I remember my father fell in love with the wine project at the end of the 60's. He had so much fun, promoting it in the US where he went with soccer in costume, wine and fashion." Emilio bought Cantine di Cerreto to produce classic Chianti and other wines. Although the label for the wine produced are in black and white, one can hope that this beautiful print will be resurrected to adorn a future Pucci Chianti. I love the beautiful graphic print on the easy to wear, 'light as a feather' semi-sheer silk organza. The bodice has an elegant v-neck with chic wide-cuff billow sleeves This figure flattering garment nips in at the high waist with center bow while skimming the hips as the skirt falls into a slightly flounced maxi. We added many pictures so you can appreciate this rare beauty. This would make a perfect wedding guest or resort party look.

    Measurements
    Bust: 32 inches
    Waist: 25 inches
    Hips: up to 38 inches
    Total Length: 57 inches

This Emilio Pucci designer maxi dress is in beautiful condition with no discoloration, stains or alternations. Perfectly working original back center metal-zipper. Only signs of age are some wear by the back center zipper and an underarm seam repair which is not noticeable when worn. Please message for detailed pictures. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
