  • 1976 Biba Emerald Green Cotton Lace-Up Corset Top & Matching Maxi Skirt

    ID: 0527262
    Size: extra small - small
    Condition: excellent

This spellbinding 1976 Biba emerald green cotton lace-up corset top and matching maxi skirt perfectly captures the romantic decadence that made the label one of British fashion's most influential names. Founded in 1963 by Barbara Hulanicki, Biba became synonymous with glamorous bohemian dressing, transforming London fashion with its Art Deco-inspired boutiques, sensual silhouettes, and accessible fantasy. If you were an “It Girl” in London during the 1960s and 70s, Biba is where you would have shopped. At its height, the label defined an entire lifestyle movement, dressing everyone from rockstars to high-profile celebrities.

Constructed in a vivid emerald cotton with matching lace trim, the top has a quietly provocative feel without appearing overly structured. We were especially thrilled to find documentation of Twiggy wearing this same design in another color-way, further cementing the set’s place within Biba’s iconic visual history. The corset-inspired bodice closely traces the body. It features a seductive lace-up front threaded through metal grommets, allowing you to adjust the fit exactly to your liking. Intricate lace edging softens the neckline and waistline, while the long lean shape creates a statuesque silhouette. The coordinating maxi skirt falls effortlessly from the hips into a sweeping peasant shape with loosely pleated panels that create graceful motion as you walk. A ruffled tier near the hem adds fullness and depth, allowing the fabric to move beautifully with every step. Together, the two pieces deliver the kind of magnetic presence that made Biba legendary. Matching Biba sets from this era have become increasingly difficult to find, particularly in such a striking color. You can easily imagine this worn barefoot on holiday or styled for an upscale summer soiree.
