1987 Cher Witches of Eastwick Movie Worn Alaia Fishtail Skirt & Crop Top
A breathtaking ensemble worn by Cher for her role in the 1987 Warner Brothers production of Witches of Eastwick. This famous film stars Jack Nicholson as Daryl Van Horne, alongside Cher, Michelle Pfeiffer and Susan Sarandon as the eponymous witches. The costume designer, Aggie Guerard Rodgers, wanted Cher's character to embody a seductive sculptress widow and this two-piece completely deliveries. The hourglass high waisted skirt is constructed from wide bands of black fabric laced together with matching ribbon. This iconic Alaia garment worked perfectly for Cher's role in the movie but she wasn't in love with any of the tops shown with it on the runway. With the costume designer's approval, she personally requested Bob Mackie to make her a cropped top in the matching fabric. The ensemble came together so flawlessly that it was used for all the major press pictures. Cher celebrity worn pieces are very rare and having the Alaia/Bob Mackie connection makes this a prized ensemble to any vintage collection.
