Dolce & Gabbana knew early on that a little black dress didn't have to be boring, and this epic tulle trimmed mini with matching fingerless gloves from their 1992 spring/summer collection doesn't disappoint. At the time, the designer duo were still relatively new names on the international fashion scene, yet they had already established the lingerie-inspired dressing and unabashed celebration of the female form that would define their work. This look is a perfect example of their early-90s aesthetic: playful, sexy and full of attitude.

Presented as Look 43 on the runway and modeled by Carla Bruni, the dress is fashioned from a black stretch-cotton blend that hugs the bust and waist before flowing into a flared micro-mini skirt.
