  • 1995 Christian Dior by Gianfranco Ferré Runway Plaid Silk Metallic-Corded Hourglass Gown

    ID: 104263
    Size: small
    Condition: excellent

This ultra chic, exceptional Christian Dior silk strapless bustier hourglass gown dates back to Gianfranco Ferré 1995 fall/winter runway collection. Before joining Dior, Ferré was trained as an architect, a discipline that forever shaped his approach to clothing. Appointed artistic director of the House of Dior in 1989, his tenure is widely regarded as a pivotal chapter, balancing couture tradition with a lavishy modern approach. This epic gown appeared on the runway as Look 95, modeled by Nadja Auermann, who walked the show styled with an additional semi-sheer blouse underneath. The strapless bodice is meticulously constructed with interior boning, sculpting the torso while maintaining a refined line. A softly contoured sweetheart neckline frames the décolletage, while the silk plaid textile is woven with shimmering red metallic thread lines that catch the light with movement. The black silk rayon skirt falls with controlled fluidity, finished with gentle draping and a discreet side slit. The true focal point lies at the waist: an extraordinary soutache panel executed in plush chenille velvet, rich red rope, and two distinct varieties of metallic gold cord. The swirling motif is both ornamental and architectural, cinching the hourglass silhouette while drawing the eye. It is a detail that exemplifies Ferré’s remarkable craftsmanship.

This is the kind of piece you acquire when you want something more than a beautiful evening gown. You are investing in a unique documented runway look from one of Dior’s most respected eras, designed by a man whose influence still resonates throughout fashion history. Worn today, you would command attention wearing this Christian Dior at a black-tie gala, or any important evening event where individuality matters.
