Breathtaking 1998 'Joan Romanov' collection runway show-stopper from the late and great Alexander Mcqueen. He was known for combining superb tailoring with a dramatic aesthetic inspired by various historical periods, British and Celtic tribalism and sexually charged fetish wear. McQueen's thematic shows were as much theater as fashion, with each piece of clothing worked into a dramatic narrative plotted by McQueen. The fabric on this gorgeous gown is a fully-sequin photographic print silk of murdered Romanov children. I love the cross over bodice design and lean, long button detailed sleeves. This figure flattering garment accentuates the bust, skims the hip and flows to the floor with a dramatic thigh-high side slits. A hard-to-find and iconic early Alexander McQueen treasure.
