  • 2007 Emanuel Ungaro Lipstick Red Heavily Ruched Silk Chiffon Trained Hourglass Gown

    ID: 0831261
    Size: small
    Condition: excellent

This 2007 spring/summer Emanuel Ungaro lipstick-red ruched silk chiffon hourglass trained gown channels 'Old Hollywood' glamour so beautifully. Founded in Paris in 1965, Emanuel Ungaro built his house around an unapologetically feminine vision, becoming celebrated for brilliant color and clothing that embraced the curves of the body. Peter Dundas arrived at Ungaro as creative director in 2005 after leaving Roberto Cavalli, bringing his own glamorous, body-conscious sensibility. He would end up designing only three collections for the Parisian house, with Spring/Summer 2007 as his second, making this a rare piece from his brief tenure.

Adding to the design's significance, Angelina Jolie wore a custom couture version to the 2007 Cannes Film Festival premiere of Ocean's Thirteen. Fashioned from layers of richly saturated red silk chiffon, the gown follows the figure in a striking hourglass shape before pooling to the floor. The seductive bodice is meticulously ruched, with folds wrapping diagonally around the torso and converging into an intricate twisted knot at the center. This treatment closely mimics Look 46 on the runway, while narrow bands of chiffon twist over the shoulders, a detail also seen on Look 38. The gathering continues across the back, further flattering your waist and hips. Beneath the chiffon is a silk inner bustier with attached wired cups for support and coverage, allowing the outer layers to remain light and fluid. The best detail is the pair of sweeping chiffon sashes attached at either hip. Part sash, part train, they cascade to the floor and trail behind you as you move, transforming the fitted silhouette into something wonderfully theatrical. Left loose, they create incredible movement and ensure the gown looks stunning from every angle. This archival Ungaro gown is rare, glamorous, and unapologetically editorial.

    Measurements
    Bust: 32-33 inches
    Waist: 25 inches
Hips: best up to 36 inches
Total Length: 60 inches (not including trains)

This incredible 2007 s/s Emanuel Ungaro gown is in beautiful condition with no noticeable stains, discoloration or holes. The garment closes with a hidden side zipper and has an interior bustier style bodice. A true wearable work of art that will continue to increase in value.
