  • 2008 Christian Dior by John Galliano Ivory Silk Strapless Bustier Peplum Gown

    ID: 1129251
    Size: small
    Condition: excellent

This extraordinary Christian Dior ivory silk strapless bustier peplum gown dates back to John Galliano's fall-winter 2008 collection. During his tenure at the House of Dior from 1996 to 2011, John Galliano reshaped modern couture with his theatrical imagination, impeccable craftsmanship, and deep reverence for historical fashion. His work left an indelible mark on the industry, celebrated for merging old-world couture techniques with boundary pushing fantasy. Although this piece was not presented on the runway, it is undeniably significant—its irresistible glamour caught the attention of major names. Eva Mendes famously wore this gown to the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards, creating one of the most memorable red-carpet moments of the night. Art collector/philanthropist Pamela J. Joyner also selected the same design for The School of American Ballet 2008 Winter Ball, proving its enduring and sophisticated appeal. Cut from luxurious mid-weight ivory silk faille, the gown features a structured strapless bodice that showcases Galliano’s mastery of fit. Inside, a beautifully built boned interior bustier that cinches and supports the wearer with precision. The silhouette glides down the body in a statuesque hourglass, recalling the elegant and architectural evening gowns of the 1950's, one of Galliano’s frequent sources of inspiration. At the hip, a dramatic asymmetric sculpted peplum cascades in layered folds, creating volume with Galliano’s signature sense of sculptural drama. The back of the dress flares into a slight back train finish that creates a graceful sweep as you walk. This gown is a magnificent choice for any bride seeking an unforgettable archival look. It would also be exceptional for a gala, red carpet event, or any formal evening where 'Old Hollywood' elegance is required.

    Measurements
