  • 2009 Versace Runway Embellished Blue Silk Chiffon One-Shoulder High Low Gown

    ID: 0831263
    Size: medium
    Condition: excellent

This dramatic 2009 fall-winter Versace cerulean blue embellished silk chiffon one-shoulder gown was clearly designed to make a statement. The spectacular gown appeared as Look 53 on the runway, modeled by Heidi Mount. Fashioned in the prettiest saturated cerulean blue color, the dress hugs the figure through a beautifully constructed bodice before opening into an asymmetric high-low skirt. An opaque silk foundation provides coverage beneath two layers of silk chiffon, with the middle layer in a slightly darker smoky-blue hue that adds subtle dimension as the fabrics move. The skirt is cut at a sharp angle across the front, falling gracefully toward the floor in overlapping layers of chiffon that come alive as you walk, parting to reveal your legs with every step. The bodice is definitely the star of the design. Built over a boned interior with molded cups for support, the chiffon is meticulously ruched across the bust and torso to emphasize the nipped waist. Narrow satin bands curve around the body and thread through rows of polished silver bars tipped with tiny studs. The hardware traces the hourglass shape before traveling upward to form the single shoulder strap. The back is every bit as incredible! A large cutout exposes much of the skin, while the silver-barred trim continues around the back and sweeps across the hips. Long panels of chiffon descend from the waist and extend beyond the hem to form a sweeping train behind you. Our gown also includes its matching silk chiffon shawl, which can be styled in a number of ways. The Versace gown is so fabulous that Donatella herself wore a version of this design to the 2009 amfAR Gala during the Cannes Film Festival. This is a fantastic example from Donatella's long tenure as creative director and one that feels unmistakably Versace from every angle. Wear it to a destination wedding, major red-carpet event, or anywhere you want your entrance—and your exit—to be remembered.
