  • 2011 Gucci Resort Collection Champagne Silk Draped Low-Plunge High Slit Maxi Slip Dress

    ID: 0803261
    Size: small - medium
    Condition: excellent

Few gowns feel as effortlessly chic as this epic Gucci champagne silk low-plunge high slit maxi dress from their beloved 2011 Resort collection. Following Tom Ford's departure, Frida Giannini became Gucci's Creative Director in 2006, moving the house toward a softer, more sensual vision rooted in luxurious Italian history. Her collections fused sleek tailoring with echoes of 1970s glamour, establishing a modern aesthetic that remains highly influential today.

This magnificent dress appeared as Look 41 modeled by Ella Drake, and embodies the collection's relaxed elegance. Cut from luminous champagne silk, the unlined fabric glides over the body, allowing you to fully appreciate its cool, weightless feel against the skin. The silhouette recalls iconic 1970s wrap dresses, featuring a deeply plunging neckline. The bodice is beautifully engineered with two layers on each side. The inner panels meet at the center, while the outer panels float over them, gently crossing before attaching at the waist in a softly gathered drape. From there, the fabric falls into a graceful floor-length column, emphasizing the silk's fluidity and natural movement. The sides are left daringly open, revealing just the right amount of skin before the narrow shoulder straps taper toward the neckline and continue into delicate spaghetti straps that cross dramatically over the open back. The dress closes with a discreet hook above a hidden zipper, preserving the uninterrupted flow of the design. At the front, an overlapping skirt forms a thigh-high slit, revealing a glimpse of leg as you walk or strike a pose. In fact, icon Rihanna famously chose this design for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards where she was photographed with her fellow pop stars. This Gucci never competes for attention because it simply commands it. Slip it on and let the silhouette do all the talking. Its confidence comes from impeccable proportion, fluid silk, and the way it moves with you—proof that sometimes the simplest designs leave the strongest impression.
