Dolce & Gabbana are considered the inventors of a Mediterranean style that draws its inspiration from women of Italian realism, sensual and austere like Anna Magnani, to whom they dedicated a collection whose key element was the 1940's slip. They are not looking for a retro look; Dolce & Gabbana turned to the past for innovation. The designers once stated, "We want to use the past to project it into the future". This seductive gown is a wonderful example of their genius. The fabric itself is sensational; a flattering mid-weight stretch silk that hugs the body perfectly in a color that definitely suggests nudity. The body of the gown has complex ruching throughout for an extra hourglass look. The sculpted wiggle skirting skimming the hips while creating a stunning mermaid shape hemline.
