1974 Christian Dior Haute Couture Navy Pleated Silk Cutwork Dress Set

A gorgeous Christian Dior Haute Couture navy-blue deco cutwork ensemble dating back to their 1974 spring/summer collection. Charlotte Rampling is famously photographed by Helmut Newton wearing the same style for American Vogue Magazine. When the talented Marc Bohan took over as head designer for Dior in 1960, he continued the tradition of elegant design and this exceptional ensemble is a wonderful example. The fabric itself is a masterpiece; light as a feather French silk-chiffon of the highest possible grade. The unique open 'ladder' stitch cutwork technique adds so much depth and movement. If you look closer, this hand-crafted open cut work is individually covered with wrapped thread. The chic wide-strap bodice is left unlined, making it semi-sheer and incredibly romantic. The sash tie belted waist with alluring pleated swing skirt gives the dress a very flattering silhouette. The matching jacket is a statement piece in it's own right with it's wide bell-sleeves and side pockets. I love the nod is early 1930's design yet this ensemble remains truly timeless.

This Christian Dior Haute Couture 10483/10484 numbered dress ensemble is in excellent condition with no rips, stains or holes. Garment closes with side handset back metal-zipper. It is entirely crafted by hand, as dictated by Haute Couture standards. The skirt has a second layer of the same silk-chiffon used on the exterior with an additional lining of china-silk. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
