2003 Christian Dior by Galliano Metallic Blue Silk Lace-Up Bias Cut Gown
Breathtaking Christian Dior metallic leaf-motif patterned lamé silk and chiffon bias-cut gown. Dior is probably the best known name in high fashion since the late 1940's. This stunning Christian Dior documented gown from John Galliano's iconic 2003 spring-summer collection is a perfect example of why this couture house has stood the test of time. John Galliano is widely considered one of the most innovative and influential fashion designers of the early twenty-first century. He mingled his references in often surprising juxtapositions to create extravagant yet intricately engineered and meticulously tailored clothes. This gown is everything you look for in Galliano era Dior! I love the large-scale metallic gold floral silk mixed with the semi-sheer silk chiffon. Such a nod to 1930's style. The seductive bodice has a center lace-up design down both the front and back. The gold grommets give the gown a perfect amount of edge. The flattering bias-cut shape flows into a stunning side slit. This construction emphasizes a woman's seductive shape without adding any bulk or volume to the actual hips. The skirt portion has two flared double semi-sheer layers from the thighs to the hemline. The body of the dress is lined in the same fabric and there are the Dior signature small self covered buttons along one side. This is the type of gown you will reach for anytime you want to be noticed. A rare wearable piece of fashion history.
